DAY I - Arrival.
DAY 2 Barcelona : Arrive in the coastal city of Barcelona, the capital of Cataluna. Take the afternoon to get acquainted with Spain's most cosmopolitan city.
DAY 3 : BARCELONA Discover the highlights of one of Europe's most exciting cities-the elegant Ramblas, the Olympic Stadium, and the Gothic Quarter-on your guided tour. This afternoon is free to visit the Parc Güell or the Picasso Museum.
DAY 4 : Barcelona :Travel today to Figueras, the hometown of Salvador Dali, one of Spain's greatest artists. You have the chance to experience its eccentric and surreal art during a visit to the Dali Museum. Return to Barcelona for dinner and a night's rest.
DAY 5 : PROVENCE Pass over the border into France, stopping in Carcassonne to explore the country's most famous walled city. View the Chateau Comtal and learn the story of how the city got its name. Continue to the beautiful region of Provence for dinner and a night's rest.
DAY 6 : MARSEILLE : Explore some of the most important Roman sites in southern France today, starting with the Pont du Gard, an ancient engineering masterpiece. See the magnificent arena of Nimes, still in use after almost 2.000 years. Settle for the evening in the port town of Marseilles.
DAY 7 : MARSEILLE The recently revitalized 2,600year-old city of Marseilles welcomes you today. See the vieux port, Notre Dame de la Garde and Longchamp Palace on your guided sightseeing tour. Be sure to try the city's famous bouillabaisse for lunch! This afternoon, journey along the coast to view the stunning Calanques, high, gorge-like rock formations that reach deep down into the blue sea.
DAY 8 : Côte d'Azur - Leave the coast briefly for a stop in Aix-en-Provence, a town renowned for its charm and beauty. Once the capital of the region, this picturesque place was also home to Paul Cézanne. Return to the sea once again as you reach the Mediterranean resort town of Nice.
DAY 9 : Côte d'Azur : Welcome to the Riviera! This morning's sightseeing tour includes the Russian Orthodox Cathedral and the Roman arena in Cimiez. Take in more of the region's beauty on an excursion to visit the village of Eze, with its ruined castle and steep streets. Continue along the corniche to Monaco, the glamorous home of the rich and famous. Return to Nice for a free evening.
